RCX! Associated RC10GT2 MORE PICS !

It’s for real! Associated’s long-awaited follow-up to the most popular 2WD nitro truck ever is finally here. The RC10GT2 is an all-new-from-the-ground-up design, but maintains the winning suspension geometry of the original GT. Quick-change hubs are standard equipment, and unlike pin- and hex-interface designs that require an extra twist to get the rim lined up, Associated’s setup is not position-sensitive. An upper deck lends the chassis extra stiffness, and a separate rear brace connects the trans to the upper deck. The transmission uses a stepped idler gear that allows for a more compact gearbox, and the new slipper assembly uses dual keyed pads like theB4/T4 setup. More info soon!

Official press info:

Team Associated first introduced the RC10GT gas truck in 1993 and it has
won every ROAR National Gas Truck Championship since the creation of the
class. That’s why they say "you still can’t beat a GT!" The overwhelming
success and popularity of the original GT makes for a very hard act to
follow. Even the original GT’s unprecedented performance and win record
can’t stop the progression of time and the desire of our loyal customers
for a new truck.

The Area 51 designers have done it again by bringing you the all-new
Factory Team GT2. The GT2 is the result of everything that the engineers
and drivers at Team Associated have learned over the last thirteen years
since racing the original GT. The new Factory Team GT2 comes with many
new design features, making for a higher level of performance, better
durability, and all in all, a package that is easier to maintain.

We included many exciting new features on the Factory Team GT2, one of
them being Team Associated’s new Posi-Lock quick-change rear wheel
system. The Posi-Lock quick-change has a five-lug self-aligning design
that allows for the fastest possible pit stops without having to worry
about lining up the wheel onto a hex or drive pin. The Posi-Lock
quick-change system is lightweight for reduced unsprung weight and
rotating mass for faster acceleration and a more responsive suspension.

The Factory Team GT2 offers more punch and durability due to the all new
4.09:1 ratio transmission. Power enters the gearbox through a more
efficient dual-disc slipper clutch that lays the power down and helps
save the drive-train during hard landings. The GT2’s new 2-shoe clutch
is adjustable with optional springs that will transfer the power to the
ground in all track conditions. The GT2’s large diameter clutch fits SG
type crankshafts and includes larger, more reliable heavy-duty ball
bearings. A free-floating disc brake on the top shaft insures smooth,
fade-free brakes during long A-mains. The drag brake is conveniently
adjusted by turning the included thumb wheel.

The GT2 chassis is composed of a hard-anodized 6061 aluminum chassis
plate with a molded front kick-up and a modular radio tray. The
"dual-deck" layout provides the optimum front-to-rear chassis stiffness,
allowing the race-proven suspension to keep the GT2 hooked up. The GT2’s
radio tray features a sealed receiver box to protect electronics from
fuel splashes and is easily removed for quick clean up. The newly
designed fuel tank has a large lever for easy access and making the
quickest fuel stops. Floating fuel tank mounts reduce vibration and
minimize the shock from hard landings. The GT2 also sports a sealed
battery box, which keeps the receiver battery safe and secure.

All new suspension geometry makes the GT2 the best-handling gas truck
ever. The new suspension components are optimized for maximum durability
and long-lasting performance. The front and rear suspension mounts
interlock to the chassis to keep the suspension geometry consistent and
durable. Rebuildable CVA drive shafts, full ball bearings, molded front
and rear shock towers, and a ball bearing dual bellcrank steering system
with adjustable servo saver complete the package.

Features:

. 4:09:1 ratio gear box
. Hi-Torque 2-Shoe clutch
. Posi-Lock Quick-Change System
. Hard anodized 6061 aluminum chassis with molded kickup
. Blue aluminum front bulkhead
. Blue aluminum hinge pin brace
. Blue "Smoothy" tuned pipe and manifold
. Rear suspension mounts are keyed to the chassis for maximum strength
and consistent settings
. Easy-to-remove radio tray
. Sealed receiver box with embossed AE logo
. New easy-to-open 82cc fuel tank for fast pit stops
. New a-arm design and material for maximum durability
. New heavy-duty steering blocks
. Molded front and rear shock towers
. Dual bellcrank steering with adjustable servo saver
. Vertical ball stud adjustment on both front and rear upper link
. New rod ends with aluminum pivot balls

Quotes:

"The GT2 truck has so much punch! I’ll never have to worry about getting
over difficult obstacles again." --Richard Saxton

"The GT2 stays planted through the bumps. It also jumps awesome."
--Jared Tebo

"We tried to design a truck that had the same legendary handling of the
Factory Team GT’s used by Tebo, Cavalieri, Maifield, James, and Saxton,
but with no modification needed out of the box. We also wanted to make
it more durable, easier to work on, and incorporate tons of new
features!" --Kurt Wenger, senior engineer, Associated R&D.

I think we've all been waiting for this quite a while. Rumors sure have been flying for over a year now It certainly has a narrower chassis, but it also looks like it borrows the wider suspension arms from a T4. It says it has the same suspension, and this is a good thing IMO, but it certainly does look a little wider in those photos. I'm liking the quick change rear hubs too. Looks like the biggest changes are to the central chassis. My current FTGT is still very competative, so I'm interested to see how this new version does. I'll be awaiting more information, but I like what I'm seeing so far.

Nice! I've heard a lot about it and it's finally looking to be real. Almost to Losi like but I'll still get one.

I'm not a nitro fan but I've been waiting for a new GT to come out. The old car was extremely dated. This looks really nice with the behind the shock tower design and what not. The quick change hubs are really cool. You think they will come to the B4 and T4 (or electric offroad of anysort) anytime soon? Well anyways it's cool that they finally updated the old GT and really want to see one run now.

I love the design! The other GTs may be outdated, but they certainly are still competative - it's who's behind the controller that counts.

Looks pretty good, we will have to wait and see it on the track. Besides the obvious T4 suspension goodies, the truck looks really similar to the old one, refined.

Is there any reason the spy shots are obscuring the steering bellcranks? From what I can see there are some significant changes there.

by the looks of all the other front running gear , it's probably the same as the t-4's set up because it looks like it uses the same bulk head above the steering rack .

Finally!! I've been waiting for so long for this!

Looks to me like the rear quick changes should go right onto the T4, with new stub axles. Also I can see the aluminum front bulkhead (will it stay for production?) and the re-inforced front arms. plus the captured camber link in the back looks really strong, along with that beefy bulkhead. Plus it must have a rear exhaust header standard, and is that clutch bell for an SG shaft? I hope so! notice how larger the flats on the rear camber link is as well.

AE has made the new chasis more convenient by including an enclosed receiver box, rear battery box, and captured hinge pins - NO MORE E CLIPS!

I hope its true that the suspension geometry stays the same.

The biggest visible changes end up being the position of the steering servo and the bellcranks.

But what really interests me is the transmission. It looks like AE has compressed the transmssion by making the idler gear higher than the output shaft. If that is a T4 slipper clutch, the spur gear appears to have gotten smaller.Lastly, is it safe to assume they are still using the tried and true stealth differential?

Bottom line: It looks like AE has significantly lowered the center of gravity.

Even if the geometry is the same, don't expect it to handle exactly like a T4. There is going to be a lot of difference in weight distribution, roll center as well as power. I am not saying it won't handle better than the old GT, but don't expect it to drive like a T4.

My buddy is DYING to get an RC10 GT.....I told him to just be patient, and the new GT will be coming out....He went ahead and decided to order the old GT from Tower Hobbies, luckily they're out of them...

Now he's dying to get the new GT2....

Hasn't this thing been out for a while now? Wasn't it called the AD2???

JK! Only so many ways to make a GT!

Looks like AE finally used Losi's tranny design. I always liked the lower profile thanks to the compound gear. I also like the front arms. No over-hang so less "lawn darting".

Later,
