HPI Hellfire SS

Thanks to Chilly for another great tip! Lots more at http://www.hpieurope.com/kit-info.ph...n&partNo=10505

How can you improve the highest performance RTR truck?

By creating a kit version! And that's exactly what HPI have done.

The highest performance RTR truck - the HPI Hellfire with its awesome handling and outstanding performance straight out of the box is now available as an unassembled version - the Hellfire SS!

For experienced R/C modellers, the satisfaction of building a kit is a big part of what makes the hobby fun. Assembling a kit from scratch also allows the Hellfire SS owner to build the kit to their exact specifications and customize the truck by adding any option parts.

Since many drivers already have advanced radio systems that are perfect for the Hellfire SS and they also prefer to use their own choice of engine. The Hellfire SS comes without an engine and radio gear, which helps to lower the price so more high performance hop-up parts can be added to the kit and still keep the overall price of the truck low.

Simply put, SS kits are fast, fun, high spec, and even price-conscious!

To give the Hellfire SS kit the extra competitive edge it comes with heavy duty option parts as standard equipment. For a full spec list see the detailed "Hellfire up close" at the bottom of this page.

The Hellfire SS kit is the highest spec car HPI has ever made. The quality of all parts and the material used will just make building and running this car a fantastic experience.

What body is the orange one? Is it the same as the blue? If it is they don't look like the GT2 body and they definately don't look like the gt1

I agree, how do you know what the CRT will be like? That is like comparing a CRT RTR with an STR PRO. Apples and oranges. The Hellfire SS has many changes from the Hellfire RTR, until then, you are speculating and perhaps being a bit of a fool.

Definitely don't comare RTRs to Pro trucks, especially when there's an RTR version of the truck in question, the CRT.

The RTR CRT has its issues too, mainly with chassis flex. If you get an RTR, do NOT jump it until you add the aluminum chassis braces. The plastic ones bend like antenna tubes, and they can take dogbones, the chassis, all kinds of stuff with them. I just finished rebuilding mine with the chassis braces, and while I was at it I loaded up the diffs with oil and loaded up the shocks as well. Oh, and I straightened the chassis. One bad tail landing and it was all over.

I do have to admit that I originally looked at the Hellfire and ended up with a CRT, but I still wouldn't say that one was specifically better than the other, as I haven't seen the Hellfire in action yet.

No offense to the HPI faithfull, but jeez ... they put .... decent tires and wheels, a wing a few bling cnc alum parts on it and call it the "SS" - and everyone goes all Ga Ga over the thing .... ????

All the real race truggies had all that stuff from the get go - HPI is just coming around to it and we're all supposed to get horny over there entrance into reality of race competitive truggy world? Not that its a BAD truck .. .but cmon - the other people have been doing this for ... well ... seems like an eternity now .... LSp-R ... CRT Pro kit [1st version released btw], mugen ... ST-R .... heck even the ST-1.

This makes me say - "Bout damn time ..." NOT wow.

It still has plastic center chassis braces - according to what I can make out from the posted pic ...
