Those are a couple of speed machines. The body on that 4-Tec looks great.
I like the new tires on that Jato, too.

Boo, I sent Peter an email last night about these things. (I provided the same links too!).
Oh well, they look nice anyways, however I still feel Traxxas is wasting their time with the 4-tec, its about time they design a new TC, after all, the design is ten years old . . .
...and I pasted those links from your email into my post! Thanks TraxD.
I don't want to sound like a Traxxas apologist, but as a car that is not being billed as a racer, the 4-Tec is fine: it's fun to drive, super fast with the TRX2.5, easy to run with electric-start, tough and affordable. I'm sure it would make us hardcore guys happy to have the latest racing features in an all-new 4-Tec, but I don't think making it more like modern 3-belt on-road cars would make it any more fun. But it would definitely be more expensive!

The prototypes I drove were absolutely nuts, you can expect to be king of the parking lot with these vehicles. The Jato is ballistic, but the 4-Tec is a like a road missile--it's scary fast. You have to think way ahead when driving at either one speed, they really eat up pavement in a hurry.

thats FAWKING wicked! i wonder if they will discontinue the 4-tec 2.5 now...and the nitro rusty will be a lil left out since there are 2 versions on te jato now..just my thoughts..and i really really digg the tires on the jato3.3 i might pick some up for my nitro rusty! and the bodies are nice also. i wonder if these kind of "skill level 5" machines will make smaller kids react quicker to things. video games already train kids to think quicker and a crazy fast RC car could do the same. my parents are extremely smart people but just cant react the same when playing PS2 games like i do. I also wonder if this quicker reacting kinda crowd, could be a possible good thing for like..air force training. i know that they are totally different but do you think people could train easier for the airforce if their reflexes are super quick?
Sky, I'll let your "F-wordish" exclamation stay as an example of something we frown upon, even though it's not the actual F-bomb. We prefer not to evoke the King of Swears in any way, including "W.T.F," "F'ing," etc. Now, I'm certain you guys can link me to other examples of these things being used, but that just means I haven't seen them! Just a heads up, not calling you out or blasting you, just a reminder for us all. Peace! (And I'm glad you're excited! ) --Pete

any one have any ideas on the pricing for either of these. I just want a stupid fast rc. Not for racing but just to make people say those little 4 letter words, when it goes screaming by at 70 mph.

I think the guys at Traxxas should just go all out and make a 3-Speed Tranny conversion for the 4-Tec. I mean, after all, if it is a "bash only" car, the guys are only buying it for one thing: Speed. Why not make them even happier? Maybe even give the people who own Fusions a run for their money.

Is there any other rc's you can buy that out of the box will break the 70 mph mark? Hell my regular suv has problems when it starts to go that fast.

The only other RTR I can think of (or that is out) that breaks 70 mph is the CEN CT4S/CT5S
Otherwise, these look nice. I can't really think of too many places to drive around at 70mph (actually driving like anything other than a straight line would not end too pretty ) The 3-speed idea would be a neat thing to have - but aren't they fast enough already? I mean 70 mph - like what, 65 feet /second?
On second thougt, you better be on caffeine to be able to keep one of these away from curbs...
@skylineTT - I agree, video games do train you for quick reaction time somewhat, but up to a point. Then again, half the racing games and such are not even near realistic. Secondly, if you crash in a game, no problem. If you crash your RC at 70mph... you've instantly emptied your wallet But either way, games are a good experience builder.
Good job Traxxas!
-Dave

DDaaaaaaaamn, looks like I'll be getting a Jato. It looks insane, and the speed is incredible.
I like 4WD but, its nice to see some R&D go into a 2WD. I know they dont drive the same but, on a fun factor 2WD is awesome. Hopefully they will come out with a long travel kit for them.
Well, I think I am going to place my order for it now, why wait, lol.

Right, 3.3 refers to the new engines displacement in cc's (cubic centimeters). The measures we are more familar with such as .12, .15, and .18 are all in ci (cubic inches)
1 cubic centimeter = approximately 0.06 cubic inch. 1 cubic inch = approximately 16.4
More exact figures place it at 1 cubic inch = 16.387064 cubic centimeters and 1 cubic centimeter = 0.06102374 cubic inch
So this would put the actual displacement of the new engine at just over .20 at .201378342. Assuming that Traxxas's measurements and engine specs really are that accurate of course
Either way both of these cars upgraded with the new traxxas engine should be stupid fast I was skeptical of all those wanting to see the new engine in the Jato. Having raced 2wd stadium trucks for several years, I know that it can be hard to put down the power even with a good setup under good racing conditions. On dirt I think it would be nearly impossible to handle the Jato. Lucky for you speed demons out there it looks like traxxas has included some tires that will be well suited to street use. If you want something crazy fast for use on asphalt or another hard surface that is more durable than a TC or than can handle some air of jumps etc, the new Jato should fit the bill nicely

And I just bought a Jato in November. I was planning on a 3.3, tuned pipe and street tires, but I may as well just buy a whole new truck. I can save the other for parts
I might just buy a set of those tires though. They are the best looking street tire I have seen yet IMO.
I have an impossible time getting the power to the ground already. I still break loose with a ¾ to full throttle punch. So this setup would be even more fun.
