Very cool rock crawling also.

Canyonlands National Park is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I've seen some of it by car and have backpacked into Chelser Park. No words or pictures can do it justice. It's heaven as far as I'm concerned. Anyways...here are a couple pics from the last time I was there.

Canyonlands is awesome. I'll post more photos of that park, Arches National Park as well as some more sick rock crawling action later today. This has without any doubt been the best "race" event ever! If you don't have a rock crawler, start building now, and come on out next year. It hasn't been officially confirmed, but I have been told the Nats will return to Moab again next year.

I plan on being there next year, and not just to watch either. Colorado sent like 15 guys, but Utah only sent 4. I plan on evening that number out a bit next year. A lack of funding and a lack of time on RCC's boards prevented me from making it this year. Oh well...two of my weekly crawling buddies are in the top 5...can't complain about that.

It would be cool if the R/C crawling attracted some attention from the 1:1 crawling people out there. Moab is such a perfect place for crawling, it would be great to blend the two categories. I bet full scale Jeep guys would be pretty impressed by R/C crawlers.

Finishing Order

The top five from each class ran the 4th course today. Today's scores were added to yesterday's scores, so for the drivers in second and back, it would take more than winning the course to take the overall win. This proved to be a nonfactor in the 2.2 class as Bradley Dumont entered with the lead and won the course. The Super class went a little different as Jason Carter earned the worst possible score of 40 on course 4, but had enough of a lead to hold on for the overall victory and the big hardware. Second place overall finisher, Chris Robbins, won the course, but still fell two points shy of matchting Carter.

COURSE 4 RESULTS
2.2
1. Bradley Dumont (score 33)
2. Tim Dodd (36)
Ed Rappleye (36)
4. Mike T. (38)
5. Chad Hargrove (40)

Super
1. Chris Robbins (32)
2. Kevin Guhman (35)
3. Bradley Dumont (36)
Jason Pickett (36)
5. Jason Carter (40)

OVERALL RESULTS
2.2
1. Bradley Dumont (score 88)
2. Mike T. (99)
3. Chad Hargrove (100)
4. Tim Dodd (105)
5. Ed Rappleye (114)

Super
1. Jason Carter (82)
2. Chris Robbins (84)
3. Bradley Dumont (85)
4. Jason Pickett (87)
5. Kevin Guhman (90)

Bradley Dumont's winning 2.2

The Super crawler of Jason Carter

Bradley Dumont's Super crawler earned him 3rd place trophy to compliment his big 1st place 2.2 trophy

Awesome, thanks for keeping us updated Matt. Congrats to the winners and especially the top 2 S.E.R.C.R.C. super class winners, Jason and Chris.

Congrats to the winners. Especially Brad Dumont. 1st in 2.2 and 3rd in Super? Ya...that's just ridiculous. Super class sucks IMO...but that's still extremely impressive crawling ability. Nice coverage and pics...let's see more!

Thanks for coming out and covering the event Matt, it was great to finally meet you.

The event went very smooth especially for this being the first RCCrawling event of this size. Being in Moab, UT the mecca of Rockcrawling made it all that much better.

Area BFE has shown major interest in having us come back next year, as soon as we ink a deal we'll be sure to let you all know.

Next year will only be better!

-Jason

I plan on being there next year. I've been to many races--both regional, national and worlds level competitions--and this was the best run event I've ever attended.

It was all my pleasure. It was nice meeting you guys, and I had a blast. Moab was really a perfect location. The wife and I are already planning a vacation there in April.

I dunno if you know...but Easter Jeep Safari is usually in March or April (depend when Easter is that year). I doubt you're wanting to go down there with the 20 or 30 thousand people who show up for that event, so if not, you'll probably want to head down a few weeks before or after that event...probably after. Despite the desert climate, Moab gets very, very cold in the winter. The end of April would probably be a great time to go. You might browse www.discovermoab.com. I've found that to be a pretty useful site in the past.

We're planning to go the weekend after the Easter Jeep Safari. I asked around and heard that weekend is pure crazy. Thanks for the tip on the website. I bet that will come in handy.

Awesome first pic Matt! It's going to be my new wall paper. Hope it makes the Mag.

Thanks a ton to you and RCCA for coming to the event. Don't forget to bring you rigs to I-hobby. I'm thinking we should do a comp there on the
RCP Crawlers course so the general puplic can get a feel for a comp.

I know Ed. I knew Gimbal was from UT but I wasn't alerted to the fact that Tim Dodd was his name until after I had posted that.

Anyways...4 out of the 5 UT guys in the top 6? Ya...I'd say UTRCRC dominated the 2.2 class.

Oh...and congrats again on the 5th place finish Ed. I gotta be honest, I never picked you to do that well. And the pirourette was just awesome. That's the coolest thing I've ever seen a crawler do. Oh...and the helmet was just awesome. ROFLMAO
