Associated TC5 (?) belt car FULL CHASSIS SHOT!

From our man George Gonzalez at the International Indoor Champs...

We showed you spy shots of Team Associated's prototype belt-drive sedan from the Reedy Touring Car Race of Champions. The prototype continues to undergo race testing and several Associated drivers including Craig Drescher, Rick Hohwart and Juho Levanem are competing with the car this weekend at the International Indoor Championships in Las Vegas, NV. The car looked really good on the track and chances are good that one or two might make it into the A-Main. I snapped off a picture of the chassis so you can see it here first.

The name "TC5" is a guess, by the way!

I don't know. Most of the aluminum parts look like items you'd want to stay aluminum, so I don't think AE is waiting on a lot of molds. Anybody besides me like the white arms? They'll be black in production, no doubt, but I think a touch of old-skool RC10 white would be cool--and set the TC5 apart from the crowd.

Looks nice...you cant really change the design of a touring car that much, if some one who had never seen a elec touring car, he could tell the difference between any of them. There needs to some drastical changes t oa design...

I think they should leave the white arms, and maybe even have a colored chassis (just not blue or silver, because xray has those colors).

Notice the brushless motor in that bad boy? When they come out with their usual 4 or 5 configurations I wonder if that will be an option? (Gotta compete with the Losi, ya know!)
Looks expensive...

I wonder why they're going with the single bellcrank steering when all the others (415, EVO, cyclone) are now retrofitting dual bellcranks?

I think keeping the white arms would be sweet. I'm curious how well the 2 peice rear arm mounts work that seem to be screwed to the rear bulkhead. They look easy to set toe without needing new blocks, but I wonder if anti-squat can be changed without new peices and how durrable they are.

I'm curious...what's the advantage of a dual bellcrank setup vs. a single bellcrank setup?

couldn't tell you. for awhile all the new TC's came out with single bellcranks, now Hara, Reinhardt are all retrofitting dual bellcranks to their rides.

Probably results in truer Ackerman steering geometry.

I have no doubt that the 'TC5' will be very good.... But all the latest belt drive cars do look the same AND HAVE VERY SIMILAR PERFORMANCE!! They all share the same basic layout, the cells and motor are in the same position etc. The only car which has some really great design is the new LOSI - and I am a comitted AE fan.
BRING BACK THE TC3 DESIGN TEAM!!

I believe Jim from JConcepts and WED stated the best advantage of the new AE car over the more exotic cars from Tamiya, Hot Bodies, and X Ray will be the price and parts support. I've never seen Hot Bodies or X Ray parts at my LHS...AE and Losi are all over the place...

I can't wait until it comes out, just like everybody else I'm sure though wishes it wasn't the same as all the other cars out there now. When it comes out I will deffinetly be waiting in line to get one.

Just because TT owns AE doesn't make AE products in to TT. TT would be the same thing as Horizon (they own the company but the company is still the same company).

But being owners, TT has a say on how things should be design/made.
