Hot Rod Hobbies Shootout

Our West Coast contributor, John Cary, will be covering the Hot Rod Shootout and will be posting photos and results here. See how Maifield, Cavalieri, Masami, and even Kinwald perform at one of the biggest electric (gas truck too) races of the year.

Howdy All,

I'm back in SoCal covering another amazing rc race event. This time its the 2007 Hot Rod Hobbies Shootout which has shaped up to be one of the most nostalgic races I've even been to. Why, you may ask? Just to rattle off a few names, Kinwald, Masami, Gil Jr, and Pavidis are just a couple names. Racers came from all over the world like the UK, Japan, and Finland to attend this race mainly due to the fact that everyone is prepping for the World coming up in just a few months. Here are some images from both day 1 and day 2. Tomorrow the mains are going to be happening and I willing posting again as well. Enjoy the pics:

Track Layout

Rumor has it Coach is the only one running the new AE B44

The Dirtnator himself Brian Kinwald

Travis Amezcua rockin some fresh shoes, the AE T4

Atashi Hara making the trip from Japan

Misc racing action

Kinwald mixing it up with Hartson

Masami showing off his barefoot driving skills

Clint Walkter and Kyle Boyce racing in gas truck

Jimmy Babcock the race director showing off his mad skills in Gas Truck

Aaron Waldron's pops pitting Aaron for one of his gas truck qualifiers.

Ae Takes All 4 Factory Classes

It was another "Ryan Show", as Ryan Cavalieri and Ryan Maifield swept the Hot Rod Hobbies Shootout. Cav took all three factory electric classes, while Maifield won Gas Truck.

So the 2007 Hot Rod Hobbies Shootout has come to a conclusion. Team Associated took full domination with they're tag team duo Ryan Cavalieri and Ryan Maifield. Cavalieri took home mod truck, mod buggy, and mod 4wd. Maifield took home expert gas truck. Here some more photos to help fuel your addiction. Make sure to check out the mag for the full race report and even more photos.

That had more to do with him actually being a lead designer in that car.

Oh yeah there's a few issues with the pics.

This pic

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f4...tout_2wd_3.jpg

is said to be of Kinwald and Hartson. That is actually Amezcua, Kinwald runs a black car.

And it should be Clint Wachter not Walkter.

X-Factory has talked about developing a 2wd truck for some time now - the X-60.

Hara ran a yellow body the first 2 days, and Travis ran that blue dripped body (could be a test body from Brian or something). once the mains came they had bodies flown in for them to run.

HB only has a 4WD as of right now, so he runs what he wants in the other classes.
