Nitro Boost Bottle? What the heck?

Has anyone ever heard or used this thing before? It's called an MIP Boost bottle and it apparently helps with acceleration and top speed. I'm pretty sure it's like NOS for cars but the bottle looks tiny? I saw this on an ebay auction it sold for $25 check out what the description said:

Quote:
BOOST BOTTLE KITS MIP Boost Bottle Kits increase your .12 or .15 gas engine's bottom end acceleration while making the power band more constant than ever before. kits fit .12 O.S., CV, CZ, Dynamite, Thunder Tiger, and Traxxas engines.
Anyone ever heard of this or know exactly how it works? Check out the pics below as well.

they look good, but cost money and cause leaks, not much more than that!

Boost Bottles are supposed to help equalize the crank case pressure, which is supposed to increase lowend power and make throttle response smoother. Don't waste your money, I didn't see any change in my engine when I tryed one.

Personally, if you are looking for different engine response (more low end grunt, or more high speed)... you might want to try a different pipe and manifold. Also, gear selection is key.

don't waste the money on the boost bottle.
it DOES do what it claims to do (and what DirtRacinFool stated)... however, it won't give you the types of gains in hp/tourque that you are thinking it will.

It's like adding a high quality set of spark plug wires to a high performance automobile (or, any honda for that matter)...
it will make the engine run smoother, but you won't notice any gain in power.

The boost bottle, as I understand it, is designed to eliminate the drop in pressure that occurs in the fuel tank during hard acceleration. (The engine consumes fuel faster than can be supplied by the pressureized fuel tank for a fraction of a second). The same can be accomplished by using a longer line from the pressure tap on the exhaust to the fuel tank. Also more low end torque is accomplished by lengthening the coupler between the tuned pipe and header(Nothing is free - you will lose a little top end speed but you will be able to come out of the turns faster).
Hope this helps.

I remeber in RCCA they said that the boost bottle obsorbed (thats the only word I could think of) the pressure created by the opening on the crankshaft closing quickly. It gives that fuel somewhere to go.

Boost bottles that you see in R/C are MUCH too small to make any difference at all. I dont know why I wasted my money. I coulda got a body I wanted.

Boost bottles DON'T work! I've been in RC for a long time, and all i've noticed they do is sit there and look pretty! Supposedly, when the crankshaft "window" is open, a small amount of fuel/air mix is taken into the bottle and some pressure is stored. When you nail the throttle, some pressure is released into the combstion chamber, and this theoretically is supposed to make your engine run better. Well, they don't work, and if there is any advantages whatsoever, then they are too small to notice!

Well, from what i've done is hook up 2 boost bottles and i've noticed that my engine runs smoother. Its not really worth spending 25-30 bucks on it, but i like to go all out and do everything that i can think of making my engine faster. If you realy want something fast, just buy a O.S. .12 rx, its pretty good engine, lasted me at least a 100 hours and still keeps ticking.
